Schools Go Smarter has been on show across the North East reaching 114 schools in the region.
The last few months have kept our active travel officers on their toes delivering a whole host of activities aimed at promoting walking, scooting and cycling to and from school.
In the last few months we have been busy leading assemblies, working with school councils, developing pupil led initiatives, making new years’ resolution and getting stuck into to some puncture workshops with pupils.
In January, Emma had the pleasure of attending Grange View Church of England First School's School Council meeting. Miss Conroy, Mrs Cessford and Emma were very impressed by the number of ideas that were generated by the children, and the creativity shown in brainstorming themes for the suggested challenges.
The challenge the School Council is most excited to lead is their 'Bling Your Bike or Scooter' competition. The members chose an Outdoor theme to represent the environmental benefits of active travel and to link in with their Forest School status.
We can't wait to see all of Grange View's blinged-out bikes and scooters!
