A 10k charity cycling challenge was anything but ‘just like riding a bike’ for a student hoping to raise money to fund a volunteering trip to Zambia.
JARROW School students are the latest to put their best foot forward and back a campaign that’s persuading thousands of young people across Tyne and Wear to walk more.
Eight-year-old Niamh Matthewson from Jarrow crossed the road to a regional record today. Niamh, from St Mary’s RC School in Jarrow, became the 4,000th school pupil to take part in a special course to help primary children across Tyne and Wear walk safely.
Treasure hunts, pedicures, bike rides, arts and crafts stalls and maintenance classes form part of a cycling themed community event taking place in Blyth on Saturday, June 14.
